Chances are that your climate control display has signs of LCD-bleed. This causes the display to go black, making it hard to read. This problem is present in almost all LS400’s. Luckily, replacement screens are readily available and repair is fairly straightforward. Prices may vary, depending on your modelyear, there are various versions for the climate control screen.
The first generation, pre-facelift LS400 had a full width screen with 24-hour clock (showing AM and PM), after the August 1992 facelift, a small black divider was integrated in the lens of the screen (in the picture above). This is a different display. And then there different versions for the LHD and RHD versions.
Loss of background lighting for both the radio and climate control is another known issue. It is easy to fix, but the incadescent bulbs are very hard to find. I have been able to track down the best matching lamps in terms of power, light output and color. With these, your backlights are almost as good as new. ‘Almost’ because the light color is slighty different. Need advice or a quote? Just get in touch!
